WELCOME

We are the Citizens for a Healthy Middleboro, a new citizen-led education and advocacy initiative to help citizens lead healthier lives by learning more about the things around them that could cause disease.

12/21/24 Update: We caught up with the November and December numbers from the Mass Energy & Environmental Affairs Data Portal for Middleboro. Download it here. TL;DR East Grove violated MCL and is the highest since the spring rains (just a theory). Mizaras and Tispaquin are headed in the wrong direction. Download it here.

Initiatives

We have just begun to formalize our plans, and will have a need for lots of help. Please be patient with us as we create a foundation that will allow for the public to fit small bits of advocacy amidst their busy days in a way that is truly productive and empowering.

Until that time, here are some of our early goals:

Ask for Immediate Relief

Project Leader:

Rich Oakley

Latest Action: We visited the Select Board on Monday, 12/9, and received support from the majority of the select board. Town Manager McGrail agreed to look into these requests and report back.
Previous: We sent a request to the Middleboro Select Board on 11/15 (click to enlarge) our first request above, or read the full text here.

Solicit Self-Funded Testing
Project leader:
Kristen Szadis

Latest: launch self-testing submission form. We would like to understand and map the different concentrations of PFAS in drinking water around Middleboro from private wells or town water. We do not currently have any money to fund this, but would ask citizens with the means to buy and submit their own test.

Compile 'Sites of Interest'

Project Leader:
Kelsey Canfield

Latest: We are exploring the town and its history for potential 'sites of interest' for contamination that could cause disease. Please email us at citizensforahealthymiddleboro@gmail.com with any tips/tidbits/history that we can add to the tracker.
